Arrowhead, officially the State of Arrowhead, is a state in the northwest Kingdom of Superior. It borders Dakota to the west; Minnesota and New Hanover to the south; Manitoba to the north; and Lake Superior to the east. With a population of over 2 million, Arrowhead is the seventh largest state in Superior, and in terms of area, Arrowhead is the TBD largest state in Superior. Duluth is the state's capital, largest city, and economic center. It is also the third largest city in Superior, following the national capital of Saint Anthony. Arrowhead's official nickname is the "Lumberjack State".
Before European discovery, the area of Arrowhead was sparsely populated by various indigenous tribes, many of which are considered First Nation tribes in contemporary times. Much of southern Arrowhead was apart of French Louisiana, though the entirety of the state later came under the administration of the United States by the 1840s. In 1858, Arrowhead joined the state of Minnesota, encompassing the entirety of northern Minnesota. Following the War of Contingency, Minnesota was reduced and Arrowhead formed the Superior Territory. The Superior Territory only lasted a couple of years, and in 1871 Arrowhead was admitted as a state.
During the Industrial Revolution, the northern forests of Arrowhead became the center of the Superian lumber industry, and mining in the north and western parts of the state drastically increased the population. In the latter stages of the industrial revolution, Arrowhead became the birthplace of the Superian labor movement. The state capital and largest city of Duluth was the birthplace of Superian labor unionism, with the SNLF–UOL, the National Federation of Coal Miners, and the United Longshoreman of Superior being established in Duluth. The state was a stronghold for the leftist parties such as the Labor Party and Social Democratic Party, and later became the stronghold of the Farmer Labor Party, whose political influence dominated state politics until the end of the 20th century.
Large parts of Arrowhead was occupied by the United Commonwealth during the Great War, including Duluth, which was the location of one of the deadliest battles of the war. Arrowhead was liberated near the end of the conflict. Arrowhead and other parts of occupied Superior were rebuilt through the Olsen Revitalization Project from 1938 to 1945, and reconstruction efforts were further enhanced by the TBD Plan, formulated by the Kingdom of Sierra to assist nations adversely affected by Continental aggression. Politically, Arrowhead remained a stronghold of the Farmer Labor Party until the 1990s, when support began gradually shifted towards the United Popular Front and later the United Conservative Party. This gradual political shift, known as the Arrowhead Shift, has been described as one of the most surprising political shifts in Superian history.
The Arrowhead economy is divided by the mining, lumber, and manufacturing industries, and has been since the industrial revolution. However, in recent times, other sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, technology, fishing, and energy have grown substantially since the late 20th century. Tourism has played an important role in the Arrowhead economy in recent decades, with national parks such as the Lake Superior National Forest and the Schubert National Park being primary destinations of tourism in both Arrowhead and Superior as a whole. Arrowhead has consistently been ranked as one of the most beautiful states in Superior.
