Divitae (Libertan English: /dɪvɪ.ʃeɪ/, di-VI-shay; Latin: [dɪ.wɪtae̯]), officially the Vicinity of Divitae is a neighborhood situated in central Oriens in Liberta. It is surrounded by five Oriensan neighborhoods, Iea, Celestine, Aurelia, Claudia, and Vesperum. Divitae is the first neighborhood in Oriens and is represented by the ninth seat in the Senate.
Divitae is derived from divitiae or dives, Latin for "wealth" or "divine", likely due to the historic affluence of the area. With its simultaneous proximity to the tradesmen's quarters of eastern Protopolis, yet distance from its cramped and squalid housing, the neighborhood, much like the rest of Oriens, was favored as residency for the merchant elite of medieval Liberta. Divitae has historically lacked much of the cultural staples that other neighborhoods have fostered, in part due to its relative lack of nightlife and open spaces. Divitae was among the first recorded neighborhoods to have banned prostitution, in 430 AD. Today the neighborhood remains one of the most affluent in Liberta, and generally leans conservative in elections.
