Forwarding the Movement is a policy and ideological initiative carried out by Susan Kwon after becoming Leader of the Social Democrats of Sierra in 2017. It calls for a fundemental ideological and political shift for the Social Democrats towards a more left-wing political leaning, support for left-wing populist policies, and for unconditional support for representing the working class. The initiative also calls for ending compromise with the Democratic-Republican Party and its more centrist ideological leanings.

The initiative was first introduced on December 16 following Kwon's victory in the 2017 Social Democrats leadership election where she sought to move the party in a more left-wing direction and continue the projectory that began under Marcel Guillory during his tenure as Leader of the Social Democrats. The platform was modeled after the policies supported by the party's left-wing faction and was one that was opposed towards the historic center-left approach that the party had tooken before prior to 2013. In the years after Kwon was elected party leader, the party would model its platform to support universal healthcare, raising the minimum wage, addressing climate change, and advocacy for non-interventionism. The movement also called for the support of republicanism, a source of major controversy, and sought to pave the way for abolishing the monarchy.

Forwarding the Movement had limited attention in the media prior to the 2020 Sierran federal election, but garnered newfound attention during the election as Kwon campaigned heavily on the movement's policies, the initiative having succeeded in taking over the party, and how Kwon would emerge victorious being elected Prime Minister with many believing that the movement "became mainstream" according to political analysts. The movement gained further attention during the 2021 Sierran federal election where many believed that the movement was under risk of losing, but would later be "re-affirmed by the public" according to The Bunker Hill Journal after the Social Democrats emerged victorious again in the 2021 federal election.
