The Cap is a franchised Sierran fast-food restaurant chain. It is known for its specialty in pastrami dip sandwiches and poutine. It is predominantly based in the Southwest Corridor (the Gold Coast, Orange, the Inland Empire, Laguna, and Kings). It has a number of locations outside of this region including Southern Clark and Maricopa, as well as a few international stores in Astoria and Brazoria. It is one of the only few fast foods restaurants to receive a royal warrant of appointment from the Sierran royal family.

History

The original restaurant was established in Alhambra, Gold Coast in 1951, located across the street from the old Garfield Theater. In 1981, the chain was acquired by Apiary Inc., and was rebranded from "The Hat" to "The Cap" to symbolize a more city-oriented lifestyle. The company has since kept to its roots by using retro neon signs featuring a chef’s toque and the words "World Famous Pastrami”. The Cap was later acquired by McCarthy Investments (which also owns the Sierran hamburger chain Shirley's) after Apiary Inc. became a McCarthy subsidiary in 2006.

Stores

The original restaurant in Alhambra, Gold Coast remains operational. Most of its locations are built primarily for drive-thru customers although a number of stores offer indoor dining. The majority of The Cap stores are located within the Southwest Corridor, particularly in the Eastern Gold Coast, the Western Inland Empire, Orange, and Laguna. The Cap has additional locations in the following provinces: Kings, Clark, Maricopa, Central Valley, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Tahoe. It has franchised stores, managed by foreign operators, overseas in Astoria (mainly in the Seattle metropolitan area and Portland), Superior (three locations in Minnesota), and Brazoria (mainly in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex).
