The Federated Federal Republic of Yekateria (Yekaterian: Federatívnej Federálnej Respubliky Yekaterská, [/fɛdɛratívɛjnɛj fɛdɛra:lnɛj rɛpublikɪ ɛkaterskä/]), commonly referred to as the Federated Federal Republic of Yekatersko (FFR Yekateria) in order to distinguish it from the similarly named federation, is the largest and most populous constituent republic of the Yekaterian Federation. A founding member of the Federation alongside the Federal Republics of Malensia and Kalysia, the republic is often referred to as the "birthplace of the Federation", owing to its massive influence and eminence within the Federation. FFR Yekateria consists of five hundred and sixty-two nebeský, seven-thousand and sixty-five okresy', nine autonomous republics, seventeen kraj', five special cities, with the capital of Nataliska holding a dual-status as one of the Federation's three capitals and as the main capital of the republic. Preszovice, another of the Federation's three capitals, is also located in territory surrounded by the republic. On Zemea, it borders Kalysia, Belaelise, and Xandersko to the west, Andrekazia, Skowronska, and Malensia to its south-west, Košon to its south-east, and the Arktichky Okean to its north. The ten largest cities in the republic, by decreasing order of population, include Nataliska, Karagrad, Yekateryvko, Yekaterania, Malenkovichsk, Yevanska, Odessia, Talynská, Feovangrad, and Tomasovsk.
Inhabited in ancient times by hunter-gatherer groups such as the Yulasenia culture, the first direct ancestors of the Yekaterians, the Anteris, began eastward migration to Syvery in the 2nd century CE following inter-tribal conflict within their native homelands in the Vlazena region. By then, the Saryuhradan tribe, dating back to potentially the 5th century BCE, had firmly established themselves in the Syvery. Also present in the area were several Turetsian tribes, the largest being the Karsifyans. The various tribes in the area would later go on to establish tribal federations, before eventually evolving into local kingdoms such as the Saryuhradan Kingdom, Karsifyan Khanate, and the Vladim Kingdom. The Saryuhradans would become a notable regional power, establishing relations with the Bukošon Empire and the Xin Dynasty located in Kitai. The Saryuhradan Kingdom was later conquered by the Karsifyan Khanate and saw 600 years of Karsifyan rule.
The Saryuhradans were then made into the semi-independent Saryuhradan and Alalin Duchies, with the Saryuhradan Duchy being ruled over by the Donskov family. The Saryuhradans would slowly gain economic prosperity due to the East Azea trade with other local powers, eventually turning the tides against the Karsifyans in the 1820s with the Saryuhradan Revolution and the subsequent Vladimir-Saryuhradan-Karsifyan War which brought the establishment of the Kingdom of Vladimir-Saryuhrad under Tsar Albert I of the Kremsvol' dynasty. The nascent kingdom would slowly begin a westward expansion after subsuming several local khanates, reaching the Kamepás Mountains by the 1880s. Albert II, the second tsar of Vladimir-Saryuhrad, oversaw the formation of a personal union with the Kingdom of Kalysia with his marriage to Katerina II of Kalysia. The personal union was officially formalized on 1 January 1901 with the formation of the Kingdom of Vladimir-Saryuhrad-Kalysia. The name of Yekateria was formally adopted in March of that year in honour of the Tsar Albert II's ancestor, Catherine II of Vladimir. Over the next few decades, the polity would evolve into the United Kingdom of Yekateria and Kalysia, with the future Malensia as a colonial territory of the country.
Following several revolutions and coups over the next century and a half, the outbreak of the Great July Revolution saw the country being placed under the rule of the Communist Party of Yekateria, with its founder Peter Malenkov becoming the first of the ongoing Malenkov political dynasty that has ruled the country since. The fraternal bond between Yekateria, Kalysia, and Malensia were formalized with the Federation Treaty of 2235 under Natalia Malenkova and marked the start of the Yekaterian Federation. In the modern era, FFR Yekateria stands as the largest and most dominant constituent republic within the Federation, accounting for almost half of the population and GDP, as well as being the most prominent republic in national politics and power structure. Initially ruled ex-officio by the Federal Government of Yekateria, the republic has seen increasing devolution in recent years.
