The Pikachurin Palace (alternatively known as the Pikachurin Retreat and formerly as the Emerald House) is the secondary residence of the Pikachurin family and primarily used as a retreat for the family during their trips to JBR City for political duties. Together with Château Jubilife, the two buildings make up the Pikachurin Building Complex. The building was built around May 2003 and finished on July 2004. The Pikachurin Palace was originally an upscale mansion that was owned by Reggie Emerald, a local businessman who moved out on March 2007 due for business-related issues. The house was left vacant for 3 years before being briefly occupied by a wealthy newlywed couple who stayed for an "extended honeymoon". The mansion was once again left vacant until March 2011 when the Bremh Company, the one responsible for the building's creation, decided to renovate it and improve its conditions. Eventually, after the coronation and granting of powers to the Pikachurin Family, ex-royals of Disparu, the government gave the Emerald House to the family and renamed it the Pikachurin Family. Currently, the house's address is 16260 Carrotwood Drive and the entire Carrotwood Drive is a restricted-access block of prominent celebrities and politicians.
Building
The Pikachurin Palace is officially owned by President Justin Vuong and the chief usher of the building is King Jakeb Norton who is also the direct supervisor of the Pikachurin in the government hierarchy. The building is 34,000 ft₂, has two floors, and is separated into the North, West, South, and East Wings. There are 15 rooms and 4 state rooms along with 5 bathrooms and 1 elevator. The building also has an attic and basement where it is rumored secret meetings are conducted there. Formerly an open secret, the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States of JBR confirmed that the Pikachurin Palace; as well as at least 19 other buildings within the community, are connected by underground tunnels although they are all secured by large doors. When this was confirmed, an Angeles Times reporter commented, "Let's hope these tunnels won't be used for arson," as a reference to Lemony's Snicket's fictional organization known as the V.F.D. in the Snicket universe which used underground tunnels to burn down houses.
The building complex is atop a small hill overlooking other buildings and has two tennis courts, a basketball court, a pool, and a rose garden. The front grounds of the complex is a long garage-way with several flowerbeds aligned near the edges of the road. A large neoclassical arch stands over the entrance with engraved letters saying "As long as the government is true and dear, this arch will forever stand lest the people and government depart ways," symbolizing a key ideology of promcapablicism
Public access and security
The Pikachurin Palace, like other government buildings and even private residences, are generally restricted from the public. The building was never intended to be open for the public although there are exceptions with those who have been granted permission or paid to the Presidential Palace Visitors Office (the main office that deals with public affairs and admission into government buildings) ahead of time. The second floor is off-limits for privacy concerns for the Pikachurin family although when they are not present, all but the bedrooms are available to the public. Admission for all persons above 8 is $15.00. Set by the Congress, only up to 500 visitors may visit per day approved by the Pikachurins. The visitors are always guided by public guides from the Presidential Palace and monitored by the Secret Service agents.
