Theoderic Rood was a prominent Jungist during the Reformation, who served as the 11th Ergecratic President of the Rätian Union from 1535 until 1547. Following the death of founder of Jungism Konrad Jung, he rose to prominence, along with Gustav Jung, with whom he was closely associated. When Jung became Bishop of Saxony, Rood became Deputy Bishop of Saxony (Stellvertreter Bischof), during which time he was popularly known as Stellvertreter Rood. He attended the Council of Trent briefly, and denounced the Papacy. Some years later, he was appointed President of the U.J.R.R.

The elections of September 1534 would be the first of the Union of Rätian Jungist Republics, in which representatives from both Thuringia and Saxony selected a president. Their selection would be Theoderic Rood. His government ushered in the so-called Theologian’s Government, as politics became headed by all famous reformers, notably Rood and Martin Breuer. Rood's presidency was dominated primarily by the backlash following the Gunpowder Plot, and although a major religious war between Protestant Jungists and Roman Catholics seemed at times likely, Rood and his government placated and at the same time admonished the furious Papal government for their accusations, avoiding a war with the Papacy directly. However, shortly afterwards, the Kerpen War broke out, but with the help of the Northern Catholic Church, the Ratian Union defeated Henry von Kerpen. Rood is generally ranked favourably in historical rankings of U.J.R.R. Presidents, for his leadership through the Kerpen War, his policies which integrated Saxony and various other states into the UJRR, thus transforming it into a much more consolidated federation of states, and his contributions to Jungist theology.
