The national parliaments of the Conference of American States are the national parliaments/legislatures of the various member states of the Conference of American States (CAS). Those legislatures are responsible for the governance of their respective member states and weild a certain degree of institutional influence and power which was expanded in 2007 with the Treaty of St. Cloud to grant them the ability to enforce, influence and scrutinize Conference law.

Relations

Originally, the national members of parliament (MP) from CAS member states also served as members (MAP) of the American Parliament (AP). During the first elections to the American Parliament in 1970, nearly all elected MAPs were those who were members in their country's respective parliament and effectively held a dual mandate. As the American Parliament grew, expanded and change concurrent to the enlargement and reform of the Conference as a whole, this became less and less common to the point that by 2005, it was exceptionally rare for an MAP to also serve as an MP in their home country's parliament with Maximilien Lavallée from the Kingdom of Sierra being the most recent to hold a dual mandate between 2020 and 2021 when he resigned his post in the American Parliament to serve as a member of the House of Commons.

In 1989, members of national parliaments and the American Parliament formed the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for American Affairs (COPCAA) to maintain contact between the American Parliament and the national legislatures of the member states. Since the 1990s, COPCAA meets once every six months and can propose legislation in the American Parliament by MAPs in the organization.
