Cozumel, officially the Grand Duchy of Cozumel, is an independent sovereign island nation and a Columbia realm in free association with the Kingdom of Sierra. Cozumel consists of four states from north to south: Isla Mujeres, Isla del Norte, San Miguel, and Islas del Sur. Together the states comprise around 3 different islands (a combined land area of 710.31 km2). Cozumel is located in the Carribean off the coast of northeastern Central America. It borders Sierra (through Bajaría) and Mexico to the west and the United Commonwealth (through Cuba) to the northeast.

The countrys capital and largest city, San Miguel de Cozumel is located on the largest and eponymous island of Cozumel.

All but one of the states is located primarily on the island of Cozumel, with Isla Mujeres being located only on the island of Isla Mujeres, while Islas del Sur located mostly inside of Cozumel while additionally comprising the island of Isla Holbox. The term Cozumel may refer to the island or the country as a whole.

Cozumel was formerly a part of the Crown Dependency of Cozumel (CDC), a crown dependency of Sierra, it was granted its independence in 2013 after the success of the Nueva Chan Santa Cruz movement, and a subsequent referendum, by the Sierran federal government as an independent associated state. It entered into a compact of Free Association with Sierra following independence.
