Activities
The Sierran Red Cross is involved with providing assistance to Sierrans during national emergencies, natural disasters, and other hardships. It cooperates closely with federal, provincial, and local governments, as well as private entities and other organizations. During emergencies and disasters, the Sierran Red Cross renders assistance through emergency care, family reunification, food and water, clothing, lodging, child and elder care, and financial support. During non-emergencies, the Sierran Red Cross provides community support services and home care services, as well as assistance to migrants and refugees, and individuals experiencing homelessness. It manages the country's largest blood donation drive and bank, and regularly sells donated blood to hospitals and other medical facilities. It provides training and prevention education to the public, offering courses on various topics including first aid procedures such as CPR, emergency bleeding control, or Heimlich maneuver, and swimming safety.
The SRC has chapters in every PSA and supports local clubs in schools and universities. It also sponsors partnerships with local charities, clubs, and religious institutions.
Internationally, the SRC supports and promotes humanitarian aid efforts and international development programs, especially to countries and regions prone to natural disaster, war, or poverty.
