The Diego Commonwealth is a state belonging to the United States of JBR. It is situated over the former region of the San Diego to Tijuana metropolitan area. The Diego Commonwealth is one of the JBRican states that hosts a population with more Hispanics and Latinos compared to any other race or ethnicity. As one of the largest states, the Diego Commonwealth borders Catalinan to the north and parts of the Orange Republic. To the East, it borders Imperial, and Mexicali to the southwest. Diego Commonwealth's capital is the city of San Diego.
To the south, along the former border, the world's longest sidewalk ramp has been constructed, presiding over the wall that divided the U.S.A. and Mexico prior to the Dissolution. It is named the "Freedom Path" and stretches west to the Pacific Ocean and east to the Gulf of Cortez. It geographically separates and unites the historic Spanish colonies of Baja California and Alta California. Some say it is a symbol of the Reconquista or Aztlan. The Diego Commonwealth is not an actual commonwealth, although the local government has decided to use that terminology.
Etymology
The term "Diego Commonwealth" was adopted by the state government five days prior to its annexation to the United States of JBR. During the Diego Summit, several delegates were urged to give a "formal" name for the future state. "Diego" was adopted from the city's name of San Diego along with its historic bay (San Diego Bay).
Geography
The central and northern parts of the Diego Commonwealth have deep canyons separating its low hills, shallow valleys, and mesas, creating small pockets of natural parkland scattered throughout the region. The metropolitan city of San Diego (capital of Diego Commonwealth) now surrounds San Diego Bay. The city has expanded into several dense urban communities that have grown along the San Diego river valley (e.g. Mission Valley), up onto the mesas (e.g. Hillcrest, Mira Mesa), and much farther east and south to the exurban cities of El Cajon and Chula Vista and Spring Valley.
The peninsula of Coronado meets Point Loma at the mouth of San Diego Bay, shielding it from the Pacific Ocean. The communities of Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and Ocean Beach lie along the coast from Point Loma south. Mission Beach includes a lagoon or inlet called Mission Bay, which has been built as an aquatic recreational park. It includes Sea World of San Diego.
La Jolla (Spanish: 'the Jewel') is north of Pacific Beach and San Diego Bay, north along the coast. It has a small cove where seals come to mate, and where the grunion come to spawn.
The Laguna mountains rise to the east of the Diego region, and beyond the mountains there are some of the most desolate deserts in North America. The Imperial Valley of Diego Commonwealth primarily survives by irrigation of its agriculture from the Colorado River. Most of it is hot, dry, and arid.
Parts of interstate Highway 8 are below sea level! The Salton Sea, located slightly north of I-8, is a dead shrinking drying-up salty-brine lake. Rumors have it that Mormon immigrants from the planet Kolob have colonized its dismal shores.
The southern part of the state stretches east from the Freedom Path and follows the course of the Tijuana River valley to its origin, including the infamous sludge of the New River.
Overall, Diego's terrain is extremely varied. It includes flood plains, deep and shallow canyons, steep and low hills, and a lot of mesas.
History
The Diego Commonwealth was originally home to the San Diego-Tijuana city-states during the Inland War shortly after the dissolution of the United States of America. Soon, it became part of the Federated States of South Southern California and eventually, that split into two "unions": that and the Confederate States of South Southern California. The Diego Commonwealth was one of the first states admitted until the United States of JBR and the state foresaw the destruction of the U.S-Mexican border wall and a new build of the Freedom Path. During the Anarchic Disorder Month, the state foresaw vandalism on the national monument and cleansed by the beginning of the Christian Revival Era. The Doom House-NPO War caused major disruption in the Commonwealth but its economy continued to rise throughout the battles between JBR and her enemies.
Establishments
The Diego Commonwealth is home to the two major cities: San Diego and Tijuana. Other prominent cities in the state include Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Diego City. Much of the major urbanized areas run along the coastlines and around the San Diego Bay area. Several inland areas are dotted with minor towns or suburbs of the greater San Diego metropolitan area. Near the eastern border, the Diego Commonwealth is mostly desert or chaparrals and few people live in these areas. The San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area is the largest urban area in the entire state.
Economy
The Diego Commonwealth's economy is very strong and only the state of Angeles is the only state with a large economy. Diego Commonwealth's main industries include tourism, manufacturing, machinery, and agriculture. Many people from the southern areas of the central states of the United States of JBR and from Imperial commute to Diego everyday. Its freeways are frequently jammed in the early mornings and some may last up to 2 hours. Although Angeles has the most headquarters in business, Diego has the most factories of those said businesses. San Diego is by far the richest city and much of its land is practically owned by privatized enterprises. Tijuana on the other hand, is slowly rising in economy but still oversees major budget cuts and a large amount of the available cash is often spent on cleaning vandalism and funding the local prisons there. Several suburb communities are quickly growing in both economic and populated terms.
