Laura Elise Jones (born May 19, 1983) is a Sierran politician, right-wing activist, and political contributor. Jones is a member of the House of Commons, representing parts of Sierra City, Kings since 2020.
Born in Fort Travis, Kings, Jones would grow up in Fremontshire, Gold Coast as an only child. Jones would attend and graduate from the University of Sierra, Santa Barbara, obtaining a bachelor's degree in political science. Immediately after leaving university, Jones would become a right-wing activist, attending and speaking at various conservative events. Jones would gain notoriety nationwide in 2018 after participating in an RBS debate on gun control, where she passionately defended gun rights. After her debate performance, she would become an EBN News contributor. Jones would enter politics in 2020, running for and eventually getting elected to the House of Commons. As a House Commoner, Jones is widely considered one of the most conservative members of the house and a notable member of the Royalist Party's right wing faction. Despite being new to politics, Jones would announce her candidacy for the 2020 Royalist Party leadership election on November 1 later finishing in fourth place on Decmeber 1 with only 2% of the vote. Despite having lost, she refused to concede until the next day where she accepted Kenneth O'Conner as the winner at the 2020 Royalist National Convention.
Politically, Jones considers herself as a social conservative and a patriot, but her views have been categorized by political observers as right-wing populist, nationalist, and protectionist, with Jones being described as a part of the New Right, though she rejects this label. Jones is opposed to any form of abortion and has called for the "defunding of Planned Parenthood". Jones is personally against gay marriage, however she has stated that it is "old news" and "isn't politically relevant". Jones is against illegal immigration and supports the construction of a border wall between Sierra and Mexico along the El Norte–Mexico borders. Jones is an ardent defender of gun rights in Sierra and is against any form of gun control. Jones is a critic of the Conference of American States as an Ameroskeptic, calling it a "failed attempt at a New World Order". She has called for a second referendum on leaving the organization. Jones is opposed to the normalization of relations with the United Commonwealth. During her career as a media pundit and a politician, she has been very vocally supportive of Nemesis Heartwell. While in office, Jones has promoted many false claims and conspiracies revolving around many issues and fellow members of the House of Commons.
Early life, education, and career
Laura Elise Jones was born on May 19th, 1983 in Fort Travis, Kings. Her father, Mike Jones, was a construction worker based in Fremontshire, Gold Coast, while her mother, Liotta, was a stay-at-home mother, with Mike being the primary financial caretaker of the family. The couple were on vacation when Jones was born a week earlier than expected. Jones would be born the youngest of five siblings, being the only girl amongst four brothers. According to Jones, growing up with only brothers made her "tough". The Jones family would live in downtown Fort Travis in a relative lower middle class environment. While growing up, Jones would inherit her right wing views and beliefs from her grandfather.
Political career
House Commoner
Laura Jones was sworn into the House of Commons on May 4, 2020, following the federal election. At the time she was sworn in, the Royalists had suffered one of their worst defeats in their history. Jones herself stated that she would support the right-wing populist movement promoted by McComb and Heartwell despite the controversies of both people and that Heartwell herself would lead the party to one of its worst showings which convinced her to resign from politics completely days after the election.
