Alexander James McCarthy (January 25, 1972 - February 9, 2022) was a Sierran statesman and politician who served as a member of the House of Commons for Oleander-Sunset (Kings's 17th parliamentary district) from 2008 until 2022. A member of the Royalist Party, McCarthy was a prominent conservative official and served as a member of the Kings Provincial Assembly from 2000 to 2008 before running for the House of Commons.
McCarthy was born on January 25, 1972 in Fort Travis in the province of Kings and was born into a middle-class household in the city's south suburbs. He would attend the University of Sierra, Riverside in the Inland Empire after graduating high school and studied both law and political science. During his time in college, he got involved with the Royalist Party and joined the campus' chapter of the Young Royalists of Sierra in 1994 and became active within the party. He would be inspired to run for politics and would run for the Kings Legislature in 2000 being elected to the Provincial Assembly, the lower house of the legislature.
McCarthy was elected to the House of Commons in the 2008 Sierran federal election after George M. Afton announced his retirement from politics. McCarthy won the Royalist nomination in the district and was elected to the House of Commons on March 14. During his time in the House of Commons, McCarthy was a very conservative MP who was affiliated with the Royalist Study Committee and supported conservartive legislation including opposing the United Commonwealth and Landonism, supporting gun rights, backing the monarchy, and was critical of the Conference of American States. He opposed the progressive legislation of Steven Hong durng his tenure as prime minister from 2008 to 2016 and supported Daniel McComb and Nemesis Heartwell during their tenures as prime minister.
