Durgl is a male grung bard and pirate who is a member of Akula's Friends. He is the ship's musician and a deckhand. He is noteworthy for ending each spoken sentence with the word "ribbit" due to his species background. Durgl is also known for his distinctive Air Jordan ("Jays") footwear.
Not much is known about Durgl's origins or life prior to joining Akula's Friends. It is likely he was born in a Grung-inhabited swamp before he met Akula and Serena Lockwood on their way to Atlas. Musically gifted, Durgl is a proficient musician in several instruments including the flute. He joined Akula's Friends in part to find a legendary artifact known as the Golden Ribbit.
Description
Appearance
Durgl is a three-foot grung from the Red Tribe. He has the appearance of a bipedal frog, with the typical characteristics and qualities of wild frogs, including an elongated, retractable tongue. Due to his short stature, he is quite nimble and agile. He is lightly dressed, donning only a traditional grung loincloth and handwraps. Uniquely, he has distinctive, fashionable footwear which he calls "Jays".
Personality
Durgl is an easy-going, kind-hearted, and friendly individual. He has an overall positive, relaxed outlook in life. He is aligned towards goodness, albeit in a chaotic and free-spirited fashion. Although Durgl may be down-to-earth and jovial, and the crew's comic relief, he is not as chaotic or energetic as Lara. His personality suits his role as the ship's musician and bard, as he is able to calm the nerves of his fellow crewmates and inspire them during times of distress. Musically gifted, he is a master at his craft and his passion is translated into his work. Although he is weak physically and lacking tactically in combat, his loyalty to his crewmates is firm. As such, he has demonstrated bravery in combat as a support and has proved pivotal in a number of fights.
