Serena Lockwood is a female human monk and pirate who is a member of Akula's Friends. She is the sailsmaster of the crew's ship. A student of the Center of Research and Academics, she befriended Akula and Durgl, and accompanied them to Atlas in 15 AH. She was impressed into Akula's Friends after her group and others entered a mock naval battle competition at the Atlas Colosseum. Lockwood distinguished herself in battle as the crew's navigator and was promptly designated as the ship's sailsmaster after the crew succeeded in combat and became an established crew.

Little is known about Lockwood's early life and childhood, other than that she is a human commoner from Port Royal. It is currently unknown why Lockwood decided to travel to Atlas given her status as a student.
