Conworlding, also called worldbuilding, is the process of constructing an imaginary world, sometimes associated with a whole fictional universe. The resulting world may be called a constructed world or a conworld. The term "worldbuilding" was popularized at science fiction writers' workshops in the 1970s. Developing an imaginary setting with coherent qualities such as a history, geography, and ecology is a key task for many science fiction or fantasy writers. Worldbuilding often involves the creation of maps, a backstory, and people for the world. Constructed worlds can enrich the backstory and history of fictional works, and it is not uncommon for authors to revise their constructed worlds while completing its associated work. Constructed worlds can be created for personal amusement and mental exercise, or for specific creative endeavors such as novels, video games, or role-playing games. (read more)

Summary: The Aidusian Empire (Volsh: Aidusan Empair; Langin: Impèr Aydóne; Podchin: Imperiya Aedskiya) is the sole-recognized sovereign political entity of the Aidus system. By its own claims, the Aidusian Empire de jure rules over all space lying inside of the Aidopause, the point at which the solar wind of the star Aidus transitions into the ambient interstellar medium of the Local Bubble. De facto, the Aidusian Empire only effectively controls space up to approximately 0.5 Orbalian Orbits past its outermost member planet, Mora, with the dense planetesimal field of the Circumtorus making further deep space navigation unfeasible on a large scale. In all, the total effective volume of territory controlled by the Aidusian Empire is roughly 6.29 sextillion cubic kilometers, the largest of any single sovereignty in history. Combining its seven planets and numerous space stations, the Aidusian Empire has a total estimated population of 604.44 million as of the 13th millennium of the Fourth Age.

The Aidusian Empire is the largest single political entity in the Aidus system, both historically and presently, demographically and territorially. The Empire does not recognize the existence of any other sovereign polity, nor do any other such polities claim to exist within the whole system. It is a federal semi-constitutional empire, with the head of state and head of government being the Emperor, currently, Gavriel. The Imperial Council is an unempowered legislative body composed of the Dominars of the individual Dominions of the Empire; these Dominions typically encompass entire planets and are the highest level of administrative division and possess significant internal powers. The Imperial Council legally serves as the pleasure of the Emperor and can be dismissed at will; however, the strict system of precedence set by the first Pan-Aidusian monarch, Emperor Aleksandrina I & II, makes the dismissal of the Council a de facto non-starter for any ruling monarch. The Imperial Councils members, the Dominars, provide advice and recommendations to the monarch on all matters of state; in times of regency, the Imperial Council is given more concrete legislative powers and operates via consensus. Dominars are selected within each Dominion by processes unique to the political structures of those entities; the only exception lies in the Velesan Confederacy, which is considered the personal demesne of the Emperor by right of lineage to the Popof Hegemony and thus is represented on the Imperial Council by the senior-most ranking adult in the line to the Imperial Throne, typically the heir apparent. About the Wiki

Logo of the Constructed Worlds Wiki.svg

Originally founded on Wikia, the Constructed Worlds Wiki, affectionately known as Conworlds, is a place to host and share constructed worlds, alternate history, and other creative endeavours. Projects of any nature are welcome here, and creativity is encouraged!

On Mainspace articles we suggest that writers follow our Manual of Style. The majority of content on the Mainspace is written in an encyclopedic format like on Wikipedia. For all other kinds of pages, there are a number of namespaces anyone can use. Editors can opt in their pages to our content assessment system, vote to feature articles at the village pump, and even earn awards and decorations for their writing.

It is important to fully review and understand our policies and guidelines before editing on our Wiki. The Admins generally prefer to let people self-regulate, but it is for the sake of keeping Conworlds an inclusive and safe community that we insure compliance with these policies. Particularly of import are the protocols around copyrights.

Aside from our policies, it is also important that users understand the Four Cs: civility, collaboration, consensus, and cooperation.

Civility: Editors should treat each other with courtesy, good faith, and respect.
Collaboration: Editors should make an effort to work together on shared projects.
Consensus: Editors should participate in decision-making and seek arrangements which are suitable to all.
Cooperation: Editors should never wantonly antagonize or hinder others.

Finally, new editors or users should understand what Conworlds is not. This website is for free content: by editing the Constructed Worlds Wiki, you agree to license any text you add under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License 4.0 (Unported). If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to leave a message on any of the Admins' talk pages or join our community Discord chat.

Thank you for visiting and happy conworlding!

Attribution and Copyright Compliance Task Force.svg

The Attribution and Copyright Compliance Task Force (abbreviated ACCTF) is a Conworlds task force and project which aims to identify and resolve attribution issues involving the articles, templates, files, and categories of the Constructed Worlds Wiki. Due to the nature of the Constructed Worlds Wiki first and foremost as a worldbuilding community wiki that seeks to emulate the appearance and style of Wikipedia, many of its articles are based on or inspired by Wikipedia. Consequently, it may feature articles which may or may not properly attribute its Wikipedia sourced material. Material which has been copied, transposed, imported, or derived from Wikipedia (and elsewhere) which fail to have proper attribution may be in violation of Wikipedia's or other similar sites' copyrights. The Constructed Worlds Wiki administration takes this very seriously, as non-compliance or negligence may have legal ramifications. To that end, the ACCTF was created on 3 March 2023 to meet the demands and standards of proper attribution and copyright compliance with respect to Canadian copyright law. If you are interested in assisting the wiki with this important responsibility, please join the ACCTF today!

Patron Article of the Month – Greater Poland (Alternatively) by F0rsaken

Greater Poland (Polish: Wielkopolska), officially The People's Republic of Greater Poland, is a country in Central Europe. It is divided into 21 administrative provinces called voivodeships, covering an area of 544,709 km (210,313 sq mi). Greater Poland has a population of over 76 million and is the TBAth most populous state of Europe. Warsaw is the nation's capital and largest metropolis. Other major cities include Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź, Poznań, Gdańsk, Szczecin, and Kijów.

Greater Poland has a temperate transitional climate, and its territory traverses the Central European Plain, extending from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Sudetes and Carpathian Mountains in the south. The longest Polish river is the Vistula, and Poland's highest point is Mount Rysy, situated in the Tatra mountain range of the Carpathians.

Greater Poland regained its independence in 1918 as the Second Polish Republic, then became the Third Polish Republic post-German–Polish War. Through the Solidarity movement, Greater Poland slowly increased the amount of Progressive politicians in power for the population. Poland is a Marxist–Leninist one-party socialist unitary republic, with its bicameral legislature comprising the Sejm and the Senate. It is a developed market and a high-income economy. It provides a very high standard of living, safety, and economic freedom, as well as free university education and a universal health care system. Poland is a founding member of Sojusz Środkowoeuropejskim... (Read more)
