Conworlding, also called worldbuilding, is the process of constructing an imaginary world, sometimes associated with a whole fictional universe. The resulting world may be called a constructed world or a conworld. The term "worldbuilding" was popularized at science fiction writers' workshops in the 1970s. Developing an imaginary setting with coherent qualities such as a history, geography, and ecology is a key task for many science fiction or fantasy writers. Worldbuilding often involves the creation of maps, a backstory, and people for the world. Constructed worlds can enrich the backstory and history of fictional works, and it is not uncommon for authors to revise their constructed worlds while completing its associated work. Constructed worlds can be created for personal amusement and mental exercise, or for specific creative endeavors such as novels, video games, or role-playing games. (read more)

Summary: Saudade (sawˈdadʒi) is the fourth studio album by Sierran hip hop recording artist Jermaine Carter Williams, under his stage name Q-Lo. It was released on November 8, 2014 by Skid Row Productions and Step Aside Records under the distributor company, O.P. Entertainment. The album was created in response to Williams' personal issues with his estranged then-wife, whom he had just married the same year the album was released. He alongside fellow artists from Skid Row Productions helped produce the bulk of the album's tracks and audio from his private residence in Kauai from April to October in 2014. Williams also remixed previously recorded, but unpublished tracks he had made earlier in the year, and repurposed them into the album, releasing four of them early as singles, including "Broken Glass", "A Melancholic Friday", "Overdose", and "Momentarily".

The album has been widely regarded as Williams' greatest work yet, and received universal acclaim among critics, and mixed responses among fans. Saudade dealt heavily with themes of confusion, depression, heartbreak, and hopeless romanticism, while also exploring the continued exploits and injustice of the people living in the Styxie, his home region, and was noted for its extensive use of two non-traditional instruments in hip-hop: the percussion and guitar. The album's style drew influence from trap music, alternative rock, synthpop, and trance.

The longest album by Williams to date, it features 19 songs as well as 3 bonus tracks, and was heavily promoted by Williams for three months leading up to Saudade's release. Saudade debuted at number one on the Sunset 100, selling 420,000 copies in its first week of release, and topped the charts in 17 other countries including Brazoria, Astoria, and the United Commonwealth. It received widespread appraisal and critical recognition, and won eight awards from four major award organizations, and named the best album of the year on numerous polls and lists conducted at the end of the year. By March 2015, Saudade had been certified Platinum in five countries: Sierra, Brazoria, Astoria, the United Commonwealth, and finally, Superior. (more...)

About the Wiki

Originally founded on Wikia, the Constructed Worlds Wiki, affectionately known as Conworlds, is a place to host and share constructed worlds, alternate history, and other creative endeavours. Projects of any nature are welcome here, and creativity is encouraged!

On Mainspace articles we suggest that writers follow our Manual of Style. The majority of content on the Mainspace is written in an encyclopedic format like on Wikipedia. For all other kinds of pages, there are a number of namespaces anyone can use. Editors can opt in their pages to our content assessment system, vote to feature articles at the village pump, and even earn awards and decorations for their writing.

It is important to fully review and understand our policies and guidelines before editing on our Wiki. The Admins generally prefer to let people self-regulate, but it is for the sake of keeping Conworlds an inclusive and safe community that we insure compliance with these policies. Particularly of import are the protocols around copyrights.

Aside from our policies, it is also important that users understand the Four Cs: civility, collaboration, consensus, and cooperation.

Civility: Editors should treat each other with courtesy, good faith, and respect.
Collaboration: Editors should make an effort to work together on shared projects.
Consensus: Editors should participate in decision-making and seek arrangements which are suitable to all.
Cooperation: Editors should never wantonly antagonize or hinder others.

Finally, new editors or users should understand what Conworlds is not. This website is for free content: by editing the Constructed Worlds Wiki, you agree to license any text you add under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License 4.0 (Unported). Attribution and Copyright Compliance Task Force.svg

The Attribution and Copyright Compliance Task Force (abbreviated ACCTF) is a Conworlds task force and project which aims to identify and resolve attribution issues involving the articles, templates, files, and categories of the Constructed Worlds Wiki. Due to the nature of the Constructed Worlds Wiki first and foremost as a worldbuilding community wiki that seeks to emulate the appearance and style of Wikipedia, many of its articles are based on or inspired by Wikipedia. Consequently, it may feature articles which may or may not properly attribute its Wikipedia sourced material. Material which has been copied, transposed, imported, or derived from Wikipedia (and elsewhere) which fail to have proper attribution may be in violation of Wikipedia's or other similar sites' copyrights. The Constructed Worlds Wiki administration takes this very seriously, as non-compliance or negligence may have legal ramifications. To that end, the ACCTF was created on 3 March 2023 to meet the demands and standards of proper attribution and copyright compliance with respect to Canadian copyright law. If you are interested in assisting the wiki with this important responsibility, please join the ACCTF today!

Soilaf's 2059 Atlantic Summary Map.png

Patron Article of the Month – 2059 Atlantic hurricane season by Soilaf, selected by Eviltoast05

The 2059 Atlantic hurricane season is the most active and damaging Atlantic hurricane season in recorded history, with an incredible 58 tropical depressions, 55 named storms, 36 hurricanes, and 20 major hurricanes - far exceeding the previous record set in the 2034 season, in addition to smashing the global record of 54 depressions & 39 tropical storms previously set in the 1964 Pacific typhoon season. The unrivaled hyperactivity of the season was attributed to the lingering effects of human-caused climate change during most of the 20th and the 21st centuries, which - combined with an exceptionally strong La Niña event - permitted tropical development almost anywhere within the Atlantic Ocean and contributed to the historic intensities of several storms during the year.

For the first time in history, the National Hurricane Center abandoned their typical Atlantic hurricane season boundaries of June 1-November 30, which were far exceeded during the record-breaking season: the first storm of the year, Tropical Storm Angelina, formed on March 11 and the final system of the season, Hurricane Heather, actually persisted into 2060, dissipating on January 5. For almost the entire season, storms formed at a record pace (an incredible 15 tropical cyclones, including four Category 5 hurricanes, developed during the month of September). The initial naming list used during the season - extended to 26 names with the addition of letters Q, U, X, Y, and Z - was exhausted, necessitating the usage of an auxiliary list. In unprecedented circumstances, the auxiliary list of 21 names also ran out, which forced the NHC and WMO to draft up a second backup list of another 21 names.

A total of nine Category 5 hurricanes formed during the 2059 Atlantic hurricane season: Laurence, Vladimir, Yelena, Elaine, Landon, Mirabel, Nicholas, Rana, and Cothran.
