American unionism
American unionism, sometimes called Pro-Americanism or shortened to unionism and critically as Amerocentrism, is a political position that favors American integration and membership in the Conference of American States (CAS). American unionism has often been compared to as the Anglo-American equivalent to Pro-Europeanism in the European Community. It is related to the distinct ideology of Continentalism, which is a form of unionism advocating the restoration of the former United States under the principles of Marxist–Landonism. American unionism stands in stark contrast to Ameroskepticism, criticism of or opposition to the policies of and/or the institution of the CAS.
Unionism encompasses a spectrum of political beliefs and ideologies. It has traditionally been associated most with liberalism and generally promoted as a form of Pan-Americanism. The movement predates the existence of the CAS through proto-unionist organizations of the late 18th and early 19th centuries which advocated greater political integration among the Anglo-American states. Unionism has evolved alongside the development of the CAS and has become the operating ideology for various political parties and movements including the Democratic-Republican Party of Sierra and the Liberal Democratic Party of Superior. It is politically opposed to Ameroskeptic movements and other organized efforts of CAS member states leaving the union.
