Nathaniel Cannon (June 9, 1836 – November 8, 1917) was an Astorian military officer, statesmen and pioneer who served as the first president of Astoria from 1867 to 1879. Appointed by the Constitutional Assembly as commander of the Revolutionary Army in 1866, Cannon led the forces of Astoria to victory in the Oregon Civil War and the Eugene War. He served on the Provisional Executive Committee and chaired the 1867 Constitutional Secession of the Assembly which promulgated the Constitution of Astoria. In Astoria he is referred to as the "Father of the Republic" and is entombed at the National Adoratory of the Republic.
Damage Inc. (short for "Incorporation") was a Sierran thrash metal band formed in Porciúncula in 1979. Its original lineup consisted of guitarist/vocalist Max Leftfield, guitarist Daniel Mustang, bassist Griffin Beckett, and drummer Gary Alaric; in 1983 Beckett would leave to form his band, with Kevin Eldridge replacing him on bass shortly afterward. At the height of their fame in the 1980s, the band had popularized the Sierran thrash metal scene with songs such as "Whiplash" and "Four Mechanix", and are seen alongside Sureiyaa, Quikkill, and Lockjaw as one of the "big four" in Anglo-American thrash metal.

Born in Missouri, Cannon was deeply influenced by missionary Josiah Denton as he traveled on the Oregon Trail, whose teachings led him to oppose slavery and enter into religious ministry. Cannon was ordained a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, serving as a circuit rider for Oregon. He served in the Oregon Militia, commanding forces in the Utah War and Rogue River Wars. In 1859 he inherited his fathers estate, and established himself as a successful businessmen, buying a significant share of the successful Oregon Steam Navigation Company.

Cannon opposed Abraham Lincoln and Addison Crandall Gibbs during the American Civil War and was detained, but shortly thereafter released due to public pressure. He was appointed as an ecclesiastical district superintendent in 1862 and was elected to the Oregon Territorial Legislature in 1864 as a Democrat. Cannon joined alongside other members of the Territorial Legislature in establishing the Constitutional Assembly, drafting and ratifying the Declaration of Independence in 1866. On May 5th, 1866 he was appointed commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Army, leading Astoria to victory in the Oregon Civil War and the Eugene War. Cannon was instrumental in the establishment of the Frontier Party and constructing the Constitution. He supported the creation of the Apostolic Church of Astoria and converted to Western Apostolicism in 1867.

From 1867 to 1870 he served as interim president of Astoria, and oversaw Astoria's intervention in the Superian Revolution. He was elected as the first president of Astoria in 1870, and during his term appointed the secretaries of the cabinet and justices of the Supreme Court. Cannon won a second term in 1874, serving as president until 1879. His second term was marred by internal conflict between his cabinet member Emseley Wright and vice president Samuel Osborne. In 1879 he resigned, establishing a peaceful transfer of power and tradition of serving for two terms. Cannon departed from public life for several decades, only to return to briefly at the age of 66 to support the election of Randolph Hood. Cannon died at the age of 81 to extreme dementia, with similar conditions to that of modern Alzheimer's.

In his later years, Cannon's historical reputation became a subject of debate. His 1870 ascension to the presidency was scrutinized for alleged electoral fraud, with contemporary and modern historians divided on the legitimacy of his electoral methods. Despite this, Cannon remains a significant and widely memorialized figure in Astorian history, with numerous places and monuments named in his honor. His complex legacy encompasses both his contributions to Astoria's development and the controversies surrounding his political practices, reflecting the multifaceted nature of his impact on Astoria's history. Cannon consistently ranks as the most popular president in both scholarly and public polls.

In 1980, the band released its first album Damage Your Ass on the independent record label Vanquish Records, to minor commercial success but received critical acclaim, with the band landing their first venue gigs during this time. Due to their hectic performances and the album's notoriety spreading by word of mouth, the band had caught the attention of bigger labels, which led to Damage Inc signing with Avocado Records. The band's untitled second studio album, commonly known as Damage Inc., would be released in 1982 to moderate success, debuting at number 39 on the Sunset 100 chart. According to the Porciúncula Times, the album confirmed the band's status as the leading heavy metal band of the modern era, and for redefining the norms of thrash metal. Damage Inc. would be the last to feature bassist Griffin Beckett, who would leave the band after their 1983 Hail To The Victors tour to form his own band, later known as Lockjaw. He would be replaced by Kevin Eldridge.

Conworlding, also called worldbuilding, is the process of constructing an imaginary world, sometimes associated with a whole fictional universe. The resulting world may be called a constructed world or a conworld. The term "worldbuilding" was popularized at science fiction writers' workshops in the 1970s. Developing an imaginary setting with coherent qualities such as a history, geography, and ecology is a key task for many science fiction or fantasy writers. Worldbuilding often involves the creation of maps, a backstory, and people for the world. Constructed worlds can enrich the backstory and history of fictional works, and it is not uncommon for authors to revise their constructed worlds while completing its associated work. Constructed worlds can be created for personal amusement and mental exercise, or for specific creative endeavors such as novels, video games, or role-playing games. (read more)

Summary: Sierra (Spanish: Sierra, French: Sierra, Tondolese: 塞拉, Chinese: 塞拉, Vietnamese: Dãy Núi, Korean: 시에라, Japanese: シエラ, and German: Sierra), also referred to as Federal Sierra or the Sierran mainland, is a country located mostly in the North American West Coast with a population of eighty-seven million. Sierra is a constituent country of the Kingdom of Sierra, and shares this status with two other states (the Deseret and Hawaii). The term "Federal Sierra" is often used to distinguish the constituent part of Sierra from the Kingdom of Sierra. Federal Sierra consists of twenty-three provinces, ten territories, and two crown dependencies. It borders Astoria to the north, the Deseret and Brazoria to the east, Mexico to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Sierra's Yucatán territories shares land borders with Guatemala and Belize, and maritime borders with Cuba. It has a total area of 473,207 square miles (1,225,601 km2) and a population of an estimated 59.6 million (83.4 million as the Kingdom) inhabitants in 2020, making it the most populous member state in the Conference of American States and the 29th most populous country in the world when including the Kingdom as a whole.

Sierra is a federal monarchy and a representative democracy. Although Sierra is a constituent country within the sovereign state of the Kingdom of Sierra, it accounts for over 90% of the country's population and dominates the national politics and power structure. It is a member of the League of Nations and is a permanent member on the League of Nations Security Council. It also houses the primary headquarters of the League of Nations at its capital in Porciúncula. In addition, Sierra is a member of various other international political organizations including the Conference of American States, NATO, G8, OCED, Organization of American States, TPAC, WTO, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and more. Its $7.1 trillion economy, based on nominal GDP, represents the fourth largest economy in the world. It is a highly developed country with the fourth-largest economy nominally and the fourth largest economy by purchasing power parity. In terms of aggregate household wealth, it ranks fifth in the world. It is the third largest importer and exporter in the world. It has the fourth highest nominal GDP per capita and ranks very high on the Human Development Index. Its industries in Hollywood and Silicon Valley has made Sierra a global influencer on the economy, politics, entertainment, culture, finance, technology, science, fashion, medicine, and sports. Its services-oriented economy is driven by Sierra's involvement in international finance. The Sierran dollar is one of the world's most widely used currencies, and is used as one of the main reserve currencies. (more...)
